CEN/TC 15 - Inland navigation vessels

This document specifies the types, structure, dimensions, technical requirements, inspection and designation of single rungs and rungs for dog-step ladders, fitted to the vertical panel or masts of ships or other marine structures.

This document specifies the safety requirements for walkways and working places on inland navigation vessels in the areas used for work.
Walkways in the passenger area are governed by requirements which are outside the scope of this document.
Requirements related to the marking of safety and health protection are not covered by this document.
This document specifies safety requirements for walkways and working places within the meaning of European Parliament and Council Directive (EU) 2016/1629 of 14 September 2016 laying down technical requirements for inland waterway vessels.

This document is applicable to boarding stairs for inland navigation vessels. Boarding stairs are used on inland navigation vessels for a safe transition into ship's boats, safe disembarking to the shore or a safe crossing over onto vessels with lower decks.
This document specifies safety requirements on the design, dimensions and strength and test methods for boarding stairs.
Boarding stairs are designed for vessels having a boarding height greater than 1,5 m above the light water-line. They can be used up to a height of around 3,0 m above the light water-line.
Boarding stairs are not intended for use by passengers.

This document is applicable to outboard ladders for inland navigation vessels. Outboard ladders are used on inland navigation vessels having great side heights to facilitate safe climbing into ship's boats, safe disembarking or safe crossing over onto vessels in the case of significantly different boarding heights.
This document specifies safety requirements on design, dimensions and strength and test conditions for outboard ladders.
Outboard ladders are intended for that range where boarding stairs according to EN 1502 are not sufficient in length. This range starts at a boarding height of approximately at 2,8 m above the light water-line.
Outboard ladders are not intended for use by passengers.

This document provides guidelines for the preparation of a safety rota and safety plans on passenger vessels for inland navigation. It supports the safety organization on board. Furthermore, it describes the code of conduct necessary for passengers on cabin vessels. Annex B contains an example of a safety rota, a safety plan and a code of conduct for passengers, respectively.

This document is applicable to stanchions and holders of tiltable and detachable railings (railing type CT and CD according to EN 711 in work areas) for inland navigation vessels. These railings are situated in the side deck areas, where a permanently fitted railing can be an obstacle for loading/discharging operations.
The stanchions are designed for use with handrails and intermediate guardrails made of wire ropes.

This document specifies terms and definitions relating to dredgers, with the aim of giving clear enough definitions for every term for them to be understood by all specialists.
This document is applicable only to equipment which is used for the construction and maintenance of navigable waterways and the extraction of soil.
The terms specified in this document are intended to be used in documentation of all kinds. Certain standardized terms are also given with their abridged version; these can be used in cases where no possibility of misinterpretation can arise.
A combination of terms is allowed in application.

This document specifies dimensions and safety requirements for manually operated and power-operated coupling devices used for assembling inland navigation vessels as push tows or for coupling vessels alongside by means of rope connections. The coupling device secures the stable positioning of the coupled vessels.
Safety requirements to protect operators from accidents during the creation, operation, and separation of the rope connections of push tows and vessels coupled alongside are specified in this document.
It also gives rules for designation and testing.

This document specifies requirements for electrical installations for the shore supply of berthing inland navigation vessels with electrical energy, three-phase current 400 V, 50 Hz with a rated current of up to 125 A.
This document applies to the supply of inland navigation vessels in ports and moorings for commercial inland navigation.
This document specifies general requirements and contains information on the billing procedure.
For the supply of small craft and houseboats in marinas and similar installations the requirements of HD 60364-7-709 apply.
For electrical shore connections with a current rating more than 125 A, which are suitable for passenger ships with hotel operation, EN 16840 applies.
The requirements for the HD 60364 series and HD 384 series generally apply to low-voltage systems on shore. A detailed list of the relevant parts is given in the Bibliography.

This document applies in connection with EN 15869-1 for the supply of berthed inland navigation vessels with electrical energy.
This document specifies additional requirements for the on-shore unit of the electrical shore connection.

This document applies in connection with EN 15869 1 for the supply of berthed inland navigation vessels with electrical energy from shore.
This document specifies additional requirements for the shore connection cable and the feeding unit of the electrical shore connection.

This document specifies safety requirements for floating landing stages and floating bridges for passenger transport and their equipment.
Requirements for facilities for supply and waste disposals for vessels using these floating landing stages are not covered by this document.
This document is not applicable to:
-   floating landing stages for motor vehicle traffic;
-   floating landing stages for recreational craft and inland navigation craft that are not vessels, e.g. floating equipment;
-   more severe requirements for floating landing stages used for the transhipment of dangerous goods;
-   any gangwayrequired between vessel and floating landing stage;
-   specialized floating structures which are not used for passenger traffic or the berthing of vessels.

ISO 8385:2018 provides a single classification for all types of dredgers designed for loosening, raising, transporting and disposing of dredged material.

This European Standard specifies the design, dimensions, technical requirements and testing of connections for the discharge of waste water produced by inland navigation vessels.
This standard specifies:
-   a connection of a design common on inland navigation vessels which consists of a threaded pipe and quick-release coupling;
-   a connection for vessels with flange ISO 7608 - B1, consisting of an adapter with matching flange and welded threaded pipe and quick-release coupling.

This European Standard specifies the design, dimensions, technical requirements and testing of connections for the discharge of oily mixture produced by inland navigation vessels.
It is not applicable to the disposal of cargo residues from cargo tanks.
This standard specifies:
-   a connection of a design common on inland navigation vessels which consists of a threaded pipe and quick-release coupling;
-   a connection for vessels with flange ISO 7608 - A1, consisting of an adapter with matching flange and welded threaded pipe and quick-release coupling.

ISO 18422:2014 specifies a plate with instructions for rescue, resuscitation and first aid of drowning persons. This plate is intended for use
-      on inland navigation vessels;
-      at suitable places on the shore of inland waterways, e.g. harbours, berths, locks, sluices, etc.;
-      at other suitable places.

This European standard specifies the design, dimensions and technical requirements for connections and pipelines for storing potable water for inland navigation vessels.
These are:
-   a fixed connection on the supply side;
-   pipeline;
-   a fixed connection on the consumer side;
-   a connection for retrofitting inland navigation vessels that have a closure device level with the deck (internal pipe thread pursuant to EN ISO 228 1), consisting of a connecting part with a threaded connection and fixed coupling.
Necessary measures to prevent electrostatic charge and overfilling are not governed by the standard.
National regulations apply to drinking water supply plants. The requirements of this European standard supplement these regulations.

This European Standard specifies requirements relating to electrical installations for the supply of electrical power (three-phase AC - 400 V, 50 Hz and with a rated current of at least 250 A) to vessels in port.
Annex A stipulates general and safety requirements relating to the shore-based section of the electrical shore connection.
Annex B stipulates general and safety requirements relating to the shore-based connecting cables and to the on-board section of the electrical shore connection.
Annex C contains information concerning the dimensioning of shore-based connecting cables.
The requirements according to the HD 60364 and HD 384 series of standards generally apply to shore-based low-voltage equipment.

ISO 7236:2014 applies to mounting attachments for demountable masts with an integral mast lower part for the placing of lights on push barges. It specifies construction, dimensions, manufacture, arrangement, and means of attachment.

This European Standard is applicable to railings for decks and in gangways on inland navigation vessels. It lays down design, dimensions, strength and test conditions which have to be observed for safety reasons. The railings provide protection for persons against falling overboard and from one deck to another.

This European Standard applies to:
-   ship's boats that shall be carried on inland navigation vessels according to Annex II of Directive 2006/87/EC;
-   lifeboats if no special life-saving equipment (e.g. ADN) is specified for the area of use;
-   work boats for the transport of a limited number of persons or smaller working loads in the construction site area and over comparatively short distances.
This standard does not apply to:
-   recreational craft according to Directive 2013/53/EU;
-   firefighting and water rescue boats.

This European Standard specifies safety requirements for the arrangement, accessibility and marking of
anchoring, coupling, towing, hauling and mooring systems on inland navigation vessels.
Depending on the type, the dimensions, the intended use of the vessels as well as the waters on which they
are operated, inland navigation vessels are equipped with anchoring, coupling, towing, hauling and mooring
systems.
This standard does not apply to recreational craft according to Directive 94/25/EEC.

This European Standard specifies requirements for roller fairleads on inland navigation vessels.  It specifies the basic principles for the design, the main dimensions and designations.

This European Standard specifies requirements for rope leads on inland navigation vessels, e.g. from the deck to the quay.

This European Standard specifies general requirements for rope leading on inland navigation vessels.
This standard is an aid to selecting equipment for rope leading. It specifies general requirements for equipment for rope leading by means of fairleads, roller leads or rope leads as used, for example, for hauling, mooring and coupling inland navigation vessels under certain conditions.

This European Standard specifies safety and ergonomic requirements for wheelhouses on inland navigation vessels.

This European Standard specifies requirements for fairleads on inland navigation vessels.  It applies to fairleads for guiding ropes perpendicularly to the fairlead shaft.

This European Standard specifies requirements for anchor equipment for inland navigation vessels.

This standard applies to cable lifters for round steel link chains according to EN 14330 for inland navigation

This document specifies requirements for the connection nozzles for equipment and devices at cargo tanks of
tankers used in inland navigation and describes the interface of this equipment and these devices with the cargo

This European Standard applies to navigation lights on inland navigation and sea-going vessels.

This document applies to accessories used with round steel chains as specified in EN 14330 as studless anchor chains for inland navigation vessels.
It specifies the construction, dimensions and testing of accessories such as joining links and end links, chain swivels, end shackles, swivel shackles and Kenter-type joining shackles.
It does not apply to anchor equipment consisting of cable stoppers, cable lockers or end fastenings, for example.

This European Standard applies to the installation of berths and loading areas for inland navigation vessels.
It also applies to berths and loading areas for inland navigation vessels in seaports.
This standard does not apply to Ro-Ro systems, ferry terminals, floating equipment, bunker stations, landing stages used for passenger changeovers or for holding areas.

This standard applies to harbours for inland navigation.
It does not apply to
-  harbours for recreational craft
-  ferry terminals or
-  landing stages for passenger ships.

This standard applies to round steel link chains with a pitch of 2,8 d of grade 2 from which studless anchor chains for inland navigation vessels are made with the relevant accessories, e.g. joining links, swivel shackles, swivels and end links.
This standard specifies dimensions, mechanical properties, data for designation, marking and test conditions.
NOTE   For relationship with other strength grades, see annex B.

This standard applies to lifebuoys as specified in prEN 14144.
The holder is used to support a lifebuoy.

This standard applies to gangways for passenger vessels for inland navigation.  It specifies the type, main dimensions and test conditions that have to be observed for safety reasons
NOTE   A gangway serves as walkway, e.g. between the passenger vessel and the shore.

This standard applies to lifebuoys used on watercraft in sea and inland navigation, on floating bodies, floating equipment, marine equipment and shore equipment in the vicinity of bodies of water.
The standard specifies the main dimensions, design, safety requirements and testing of lifebuoys.

This European Standard gives terms and definitions for concepts currently used for inland navigation systems. This standard is intended to facilitate understanding of inland navigation vessels at an international level. The standard is not applicable to leisure boating activities.

This European Standard specifies safety requirements for winches for ship operation. These winches are windlasses, mooring winches, towing winches, mast and funnel winches, boat winches.
The standard is not applicable to:
- cargo winches as specified in ISO 3078;
- winches on recreational craft in accordance with "Directive 94/25/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 June 1994 on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to recreational craft";
- manually-operated coupling winches for push-tows as specified in EN ISO 6218;
- movable or fixed lifting devices (chain hoists etc.};
- rackwork and hydraulic equipment and similar devices (e.g. wheelhouse lift).

This Standard specifies the requirements for the design and construction of permanently installed vertical climbing devices made of steel with a length not exceeding 5 m, used on inland navigation vessels.
For the purposes of this standard the term permanently installed climbing devices covers ladders, step irons, dog step ladders and integral treads including handholds.
This European Standard does not apply to stairs. These are covered by EN 790 and EN 13056.

1 Scope
This European Standard applies to stairs with inclination angles of 45° to 60°, having at least two steps, in working areas of inland navigation vessels.
It does not apply to stairs in passenger areas.
NOTE  Whenever possible, stairs specified in EN 13056 should be preferred.

This European Standard applies to stairs with inclination angles of 30 degrees to 45 degrees, having at least 2 steps, used on inland navigation vessels. These stairs are fixed in the passenger area, the accomodation and working areas of inland navigation vessels. NOTE Stairs with lower practicability used in restricted locations are covered by prEN 790:1999 for the working area.

This European Standard specifies the design, dimensions, technical requirements  and testing of connections for the tranfer of diesel oil on inland navigation vessels. It does not apply to the filling of cargo tanks. The Standard specifies: a connection of a design that is common on inland navigation vessels consisting of a threaded pipe and a quick release coupling; a connection for vessels with deck screw caps (internal thread according to ISO 228-1) consisting of an adaptator with threaded pipe and a quick release coupling.

This European Standard specifies main dimensions, construction and requirements for rope tubs. Rope tubs are used on inland vessels to shoot up steel wire ropes, chemical fibre ropes or natural fibre ropes which are needed for example for tying and hauling. The use of rope tubs prevents the risk for the crew during manoeuvres to get into tightening slings or to stumble over ropes l laid down on deck.

This standard applies to gangways on inland navigation vessels except those gangways intended for passengers. It specifies types, main dimensions and test conditions which have to be observed for safety reasons. A gangway serves as walkway between ship and shore.

This document specifies safety requirements for floating landing stages and floating bridges for use by passengers and crew.
